The petition to try and stop the closure of Leonard Cheshire disability care home has now been signed by 2,700 people

Rochdale Online reported on 27 January, the specialised care home is set to close its doors at the end of March, leaving 22 vulnerable residents with nowhere to go.

The sister of one of the residents, Hayley Outram, told Rochdale Online News that she will “not give up” fighting for the home, as her brother along with 21 others are in desperate need of specialist care. Hayley set up a petition in a bid to try and stop the closure, which has had a large response from local people.

Today (Firday 12 February) the signatures total at 2,700, well over halfway to the target of 5,000.

She said: “There isn’t much hope but we won’t stop trying. People need to see what an important issue this is and how much these residents need help. I hope we can make some sort of progress”
