Date published: 20/06/2008
Residents in Hamer and Warldeworth are one step closer to getting their new state-of-the-art health and community centre after all the legal documents were signed off.
The £8.4million project, funded by Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust (HMRPCT), is being developed in the heart of the community to improve access to health and social care services.
The new centre will provide modern, spacious and comfortable accommodation with better facilities for the local community, patients and staff.
John Pierce, Chairman of HMRPCT, is pleased with the progress. “It’s a great achievement to get to this stage,” he said. “And it will be really exciting to the watch the development over the coming months as building work begins.
“The centre will be a hub for children’s services and also provide services that are currently only available in hospitals, making them more accessible and bringing them closer to people’s homes.”
The development, which is being built in partnership with the Eric Wright Group and architects, Nightingale Associates, fronts a site facing the River Roch on Belfield Road.
Mike Collier, Director of Eric Wright said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with the PCT in helping them to achieve their vision.”
Construction will begin in September 2008 with an anticipated completion date for late 2009.
