Sudden junctions update
Date published: 22/01/2008
The footpath next to the sub-station on Silk Street will remain closed, with a temporary diversion in place. This is necessary until the electricity cable diversion work is complete. The footpath diversion is expected to remain in place for about two weeks.
Temporary lane closures are necessary on Silk Street from Wednesday 23 January for 2 - 3 days, during cable diversion works by Tesco.
The bus stop on Bolton Road will be temporarily relocated to a position further west during cabling work on the south side of Bolton Road. The footpath will be temporarily closed and a pedestrian diversion will be in place.
Minor traffic restrictions and a footpath closure are required on the link road between Manchester Old Road and Manchester Road during cabling works.
The section of Manchester Road between the two roundabouts is reduced to one lane westbound, and two lanes eastbound. This is to facilitate the recreation of the central reserve, and is expected to be ongoing for several weeks.
Off peak outside lane closures are in operation in both directions on Manchester Road, north east of the junction. This is necessary during construction of the temporary crossover for when the road is operating as a contra-flow system.
The layout of the junction has now been changed where Manchester Road meets Edinburgh Way and Roch Valley Way. Minor layout changes at Roch Valley Way are necessary during construction of remaining traffic islands on the north west side of the junction.
Delays are expected so please allow extra time for your journey.
