Sudden junctions update

Date published: 29/01/2008

The crossing at Silk Street is now complete, and the road is fully opened. The footpath next to the sub-station on Silk Street will remain closed, with a temporary diversion in place. This is necessary until the electricity cable diversion work is complete. The footpath diversion will remain in place until Sunday 10th February, when all excavations will begin to be reinstated.

The bus stop on Bolton Road has been temporarily relocated to a position about 70m west during cabling work on the south side of Bolton Road. The footpath is temporarily closed with a pedestrian diversion in place. The bus stop and footpath will be reopened by the middle of next week.

The section of Manchester Road between the two roundabouts is reduced to one lane westbound, and two lanes eastbound. This is to facilitate the recreation of the central reserve, and is expected to be ongoing for several weeks.

The cabling works on the link road between Manchester Old Road and Manchester Road are now complete. The footpath is now reopened and the excavations have been re-established.

Minor layout changes have been made to the junction at Roch Valley Way, to allow for the completion of the remaining traffic islands on the north west and south west sides of the junction.

Work at the junction where Silk Street meets Bolton Road and Manchester Road has now begun, and will continue until the end of May 2008. At present, no work is being undertaken that will affect the traffic flows, apart from during the installation of water barriers around the roundabout to protect the workforce.

Delays are expected so please allow extra time for your journey.
