Community Multi Faith Event

Kashmir Youth Project (KYP) are opening their doors to the people of Rochdale for the World Cup screening this Sunday, 9 July at 6.00pm. Mohammed Asad, the Project Manager for Sports For All, came up with the initiative. He explains: "We approached Mr Fulat, (Manager at KYP) regarding inviting communities of all faiths and background to KYP, to watch the final on a large screen this Sunday.  He said yes immediately. However, since then Julie Durrant of Sport Development, together with Deen 4 All and the Revd James Read have joined us, to put together what we hope will be an enjoyable evening for everyone."

Mr Fulat, who received special recognition for his 'Services to the Community' earlier this year at a Town Hall ceremony, added: "This is an excellent idea. Everyone is invited to come along to watch the match and enjoy a buffet. KYP exists to support these type of initiatives."

Deen 4 All, organisers of several community multi-faith events in Rochdale, were approached to put the event together. Mr Saleem Ahmed, the Marketing Director for Deen 4 All, said: "We will ensure it is a fun evening. We will be giving away football related prizes free. In addition, we will provide free to enter competitions to win tickets for the upcoming England v Pakistan cricket. We will also present a free laptop to one lucky individual."

Revd James Read added: "People are asked to arrive at 6.00pm to enter the free competitions. There is a buffet and this will be followed by the match at 7.00pm. We must emphasise that the admission is free and there will be prizes on offer in free to enter competitions. It is hoped that many people from all our various religious and cultural traditions, attend to enjoy the match and one another's company."

Further information can be obtained from Hanief Mohammed on 07961 049265 or the Revd James Read 01706 853931.

The organisers wish to ask those living in Deeplish to attend the Big Screen showing at Deeplish Community Centre at 6.30p.m. The event is to raise much needed funds for the Earthquake Disaster in Kashmir.
