Oldham Rochdale Pathfinder a leading light in regeneration

The Oldham Rochdale Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder has enjoyed more acclaim this month, being ranked amongst the top 25 organisations engaged in delivering high quality regeneration across the country.

The ranking, published in national development journal Regenerate, recognises local authorities, delivery agencies, housebuilders, housing associations and developers that are delivering the very best in renewal.

The citation said of Oldham Rochdale Pathfinder: "This relatively small regeneration player punches above its weight with its commitment to transform this deprived area with high quality integrated communities, and its ability to deliver.

"The pathfinder is catering to the needs of its very diverse community with innovative and sensitive design solutions."
 
Welcoming the accolade, Pathfinder Director Alastair Graham said: "The reputation of the Oldham Rochdale Pathfinder for the quality of design and for innovation continues to grow. Over the coming year extensive building work will get underway at sites across both boroughs, further enhancing our reputation, and making a huge difference to the choice of housing on offer."

Amongst the developments the Oldham Rochdale Pathfinder has promoted, 18 homes at Selwyn Street in Oldham won the CABE Building for Life Gold Award in 2006, and this, together with developments at Dale Mill and Trafalgar Street in Rochdale, have been shortlisted for the national Housing Design awards.

The Oldham Rochdale pathfinder is the only HMR Pathfinder in the country to have been included in the top 25.

The Oldham Rochdale Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder aims to tackle some of the deep-rooted problems that face communities in Oldham and Rochdale. Its purpose is to bring about lasting change in order to improve people’s quality of life, and to drive up the prosperity of the area.  It is investing £37.5m this year improving the housing and environment on offer in both Boroughs.
