Date published: 03/01/2006

Sheikh Ahmad Ali a popular Muslim Scholar, visited Rochdale Town Hall on Friday 23 December 2005. The conference was organised by Deen (Faith) For All. The event was attended by almost 500 local Muslims. The Sheikh delivered his speech on the Unity of the Ummah; a call for Muslims to work together.

The Sheikh gave examples of how in history, Muslims, by their patience, forgiveness and love for humanity, contributed to Islam becoming the fastest growing religion in the world.  Sheikh Ahmad Ali commented that presently, two factors divide a Muslim community. The first, being the quest for power and second, racial prejudice.

Deen 4 All Management commented “It has been quite a long wait, but his speech was excellent. From the 500 who attended, 90 per cent of the audience were young Muslims aged 18-35. We had questionnaires on each seat, to be completed once the event was concluded. We found almost everyone awarded his speech 5 out of 5 !

Hanief Mohammed Deen 4 All Spokesperson added “The Sheikh is one of the politest persons one could wish to meet. We are grateful for him to have visited Rochdale. We would also like to thank those who organised a collection for the South Asia Earthquake disaster. Once again the Muslims of Rochdale dug deep to generously donate to those in need.”
