Prince’s Trust refurbish gardens at Heywood lodge

A group of Prince’s Trust trainees have spent a week refurbishing the gardens at the sheltered housing scheme at Bridgewood Lodge in Heywood.

Getting involved in community projects is an important part of the course, which helps 16-30-years-olds gain experience, skills training, and confidence-boosting to help the trainees get into work.

Greater Manchester Fire Service currently support three teams across the region, one of which is based at Heywood Fire Station.

The current course is at its midpoint and the trainees have already been taught first aid, had a taster day with the fire service, where they took part in fighting mock fires and cutting someone out of a car.

A week was also spent in Wales, doing outward bound training to build personal confidence.
