Local homeless groups launch drop-in coffee morning for service users

Date published: 12 March 2018

Local homeless group Angie’s Angels launched a new drop-in coffee morning at the Petrus Hub on Friday (9 March).

The coffee morning, which will take place every Friday between 10.30am and 12.30pm, allows service users to sit in a relaxed environment with a brew. The team can then chat and find out if anyone needs help with furniture or other household items, and talk to the different services available across Rochdale.

For the first morning, the group served at least 20 people with hot drinks, homemade cakes and biscuits. All the service users got to take home a bag full of brew goodies.

Angie Howarth, who is part of the team that runs Angie's Angels, said: “We are thrilled to say our first-ever coffee morning went really well. We thought it would be a nice relaxed way to chat to people about the help they might need.

“Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible, especially Petrus who have let us have the use of their cafe area.”

Angie's Angels was started by Angie Howarth and Diane Nattress in 2016. The pair were later joined by Jenni Jones and Claire Buckley, who help run the group and coffee mornings. Angie's Angels works closely with homeless veterans and street homeless to provide furniture and household items to ease the transition back into accommodation.

Petrus provides a range of services for users, including accommodation and support.
