Sisters Demi-Lee and Rebecca Mills finalists in natural beauty pageant

Date published: 12 December 2017

Sisters Demi-Lee and Rebecca Mills have overcome bullies to become finalists in a natural beauty pageant.

In order to prove the bullies wrong and stand up to them, Demi, from Oldham, and Rebecca, from Rochdale, entered the Miss Natural Beauty England and Teen Natural Beauty England pageant.

Whilst the pageant is Rebecca’s first entry, Demi has previously competed in in Miss Lancashire 2017 and Miss Teen Great Britain where she represented Oldham as Miss Teen Oldham 2017.

Demi, 18, said: “This is our first pageant together. I have competed in a few others before, but this is my sister’s first one. I entered her into the pageant to also help her confidence.

“We both have our bullying stories: I get bullied for taking part in pageants as they're stereotypically all about the makeup and all the fake tan, and my sister is because of her weight and natural hair colour.

“We have entered this pageant to show the bullies we are naturally beautiful and that pageants are not all about the fake tan and makeup but so much more.”

She added: “I hope other people who are bullied will know they can overcome them and prove them wrong.”

The finals take place in Manchester on 29 April 2018.
