Rotary Club of Heywood raises £2,269 to support those in need

Rotary Club of Heywood and St Johns Scouts at the Morrison bag pack and bucket collection

The Rotary Club of Heywood had its annual bag pack and bucket collection on Saturday and Sunday at Morrison's, with help from St Luke’s scouting group and St Johns scouting group and raised £2,269.45.

The Scouting groups will receive over £900 of the collection.

The store was awash with young Scouts and their leaders wearing yellow Rotary tabard's over their uniform's, whilst the Rotarian's manned the entrances to the store.

Rotarian Peter James Robinson from Horwich Rotary Club also helped.

The collection builds Heywood Rotary Club funds which are then used to help local and international community organisations and to support those in need.

George Kinder said: "We cannot thank the young people from the various scouting groups enough for all their help to The Rotary Club of Heywood.’’

The Rotary Club are now busy hosting Senior Citizens parties at sheltered accommodations around Heywood, packing hampers for distribution by Sandon House.

Their first party was at Springfield Court Hopwood and the next three will be at Corcoran Close, Cherwell Court and Roeacre Court.

The Santa Sleigh will also be starting his tour this weekend at various locations around Heywood from 6.30pm.
