Do you know Susan Lees’ godfather?

Date published: 21 August 2017

Susan Lees is looking for her godfather, believed to be called Bill, who used to work on the Bacup bus route with her father, Brian Sharrocks, during the 1960s or 70s.

Susan met Bill for a few moments at her father’s funeral on 11 June 2014 at Rochdale Crematorium.

She said: “He only came up to me for about two minutes and told me he was my godfather. I’d like to contact him because I drifted away from my dad after he met someone else. I have a big gap in my life and I know very little about him.”

Brian was an only child of May and Ernest Sharrocks and lived in Syke, Rochdale. He worked at the Samuel Heap dye factory and also used to be in the civil defence.

He married Elizabeth Pearson at St Bart’s in Whitworth. They lived in Shawforth and Syke. Elizabeth, who was Scottish, died when Susan was 21.

If you know Bill, please contact the news desk at news@rochdaleonline.co.uk and we will put you in contact with Susan.
