Naser Ali raises just over £160 for charity with Town Hall abseil

Date published: 15 August 2017

Naser Ali has raised just over £160 for charity after abseiling down Rochdale Town Hall on Saturday (12 August).

The Director of Pennine Solicitors was one of around 80 plucky abseilers who descended down the Town Hall’s 190-ft stone clock tower by rope during the annual Feel Good Festival to raise money for Springhill Hospice and the Women’s Housing Action Group (WHAG).

Based in Rochdale since 1989, Springhill Hospice provides care for people with life-limiting illnesses, and costing £8,200 a day to remain open. Only one third of this cost is funded by the government, with the remainder coming from donations and sales made at the charity shops and tea rooms.

WHAG provides housing and support to victims of domestic abuse. The group provides one-to-one support and group work activities to promote independence, health and wellbeing.

Offering supported accommodation to vulnerable women who are at risk of being homeless, WHAG also supports women with managing a tenancy, accessing training/education, substance/alcohol issues and with mental health, offers a resettlement service and help women to find and set up their own tenancies.
