Date published: 23 June 2017

David Rez is set to cover 350km in honour of his nephew, Paul Lawson, for the Paul Lawson Safe Water Appeal.

Paul, a first-year BTEC Sport student at Hopwood Hall college and Wardle FC player, died on Monday 19 June after a tragic accident at Greenbooth Reservoir.

David said: “As from Wednesday, I’m going to be running and walking 350km in honour of Paul and the Safe Water Appeal to help with the funding for his funeral and to help make aware the dangers of open water swimming.

“I will be doing this all the way up to 10 September when I will be finishing it all off with running the Great North Run half marathon in memory of Paul and to make more people aware of the dangers.

“Please feel free to donate to help with funeral costs.”
