Hamer Community Primary School

Thank you to all parents who sent in pennies with their children this week. Each class braved the weather on Friday 12 May to line up their pennies and in the afternoon Springy the frog visited school to collect the pennies. These will be used by the hospice in their ongoing campaign to attempt to collect a million pennies.

The children and staff all looked great wearing their green attire on Go Green for the day non – uniform day on Friday 12 May. Thank you for all the contributions. We will be arranging for Springhill Hospice to come into school shortly to present them with a cheque for the monies raised.

A big well done to all of our Year 6 children, who have completed their SATs this week. Year 2 SATs are ongoing throughout this month.

It was lovely to see so many parents attend the EYFS open evening on Wednesday 10 May. This session gave parents the chance to look at the children’s books and what they have been doing in class this year. If parents have got a questionnaire and not yet completed it, then please do so and return it to Miss Bradshaw in the unit.

Our reception children all got the chance to visit Smallbridge Library on Thursday 11 May. They had a great time and their behaviour was fantastic. A big thank you to the parents who came along to help. The nursery children will also be visiting the library on Friday 19 May. If any parents can spare some time to accompany the children, then please let Miss Bradshaw know.

Parents, please be aware the old five-pound note is now not legal tender unless you take it into a bank. We will not be accepting any into school for dinner money, trips etc. from now on.

Please can parents drive carefully when using our car park. There have been instances of drivers exiting via the no entry route when leaving school. Please observe the one-way route by the school gates at all times. We want to do everything we can to keep the children safe.
