Have your say about the future of the Rooley Moor area

Date published: 10 May 2017

The Rooley Moor Neighbourhood Plan Community Questionnaire has been devised with the help of the comments already gathered during the lead up to the Rooley Moor Neighbourhood Forum launch event in August 2016.

Rooley Moor Neighbourhood Area needs a Neighbourhood Development Plan that will summarise the views of the local community in terms of:

  • Development – how much housing, offices, factories, shops, leisure facilities are required.
  • Infrastructure – green open spaces, play facilities, surgeries, schools, etc.

All development within our local area should meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

The Government passed the Localism Bill in November 2011. It means that approved Neighbourhood Development Plans are protected by law and have to be taken into consideration when future development is proposed.

  • Any Neighbourhood Plan needs to take into account the housing need within the Borough.
  • Help us to get the most out of the life we enjoy in the Rooley Moor Neighbourhood Area:
  • What matters most to you in what we have here?
  • What aspects of our community need our support and protection?
  • What changes do you want to see?
  • What needs to be brought in or developed?

Fill in this questionnaire, it is anonymous and will be used to understand what the community opinion as a whole is. This then provides the basis for the Draft Plan as a reflection of the consensus views of the residents.

Please help maximise its potential by using it to express your views:

Complete your questionnaire by Friday 30 June 2017.

Alan Rawsterne said: "This questionnaire has been produced by volunteers of our Forum’s Neighbourhood Plan Group and has been distributed as economically as possible. To give individual members of each household the opportunity to record their views you can complete this survey many times from the same device.

"The Trustees of the Rooley Moor Neighbourhood Forum are Chairman, Andy Meek; Secretary, Alan Rawsterne; Vice Chairman, Roy Thorniley; Councillor Cecile Biant is a trustee, and members of our Neighbourhood Plan Group are John Newcome and Rev Morley Morgan.

"We aim to publish our draft plan before the end of the year.

"We are also working closely with Rochdale Council to promote the area for the benefit of the wider community."
