Mayor visits Deeplish Play Scheme

Mayor Ray Dutton visited Deeplish Play Scheme on Thursday (13 April) to take part inthe celebrations and present awards to volunteers and young people.

He was given a very warm welcome by children and brief presentation by the children before he presented certificates to children and volunteers for theirt performance during the Easter play programme.

Mayor Dutton inspired the children by telling them about his career as a teacher and councillor and now Mayor.

All children were keen to speak to the Mayor and obtain his autograph to remember their meeting with him.

Mayor Dutton said: “I am really pleased to see children’s confidence and delight whilst being part of play scheme and its gives me great pleasure to meet such confident children, parents and volunteers.

“I also enjoyed question and answer session with children on civic duties and the role of the Mayor."

Sohail Ahmad, Project Manager, said: “We are pleased to see young people developing confidence, health and well being and enjoying themselves in a safe and friendly environment.

"We are always keen on ensuring that children receive good quality provision in the local neighbourhood. The credit goes to all our dedicated volunteers for making this happen.”

The children thanked for the Mayor for his time and visit to Deeplish and the volunteers and staff who organised lots of fun based activities during the Easter break.
