Ashworth Valley Scout Camp Site has installed central heating at the Ranch House after being presented with a cheque for £4,950 by Steve Holland of Bury Masonic Lodge.
The Ranch House has been upgraded with a combi boiler and ten radiators, installed last week by Martin Ramson of Heywood. Previously, its only source of heat was from an old log fire.
Scout District Chairman and Grounds Manager, John Carney, said: “We’re very pleased with the central heating; it’s brilliant.”
The 48-acre site is run by volunteers, and John hopes the site will benefit from more activity in the future as the site is in a good location for all across the borough, with a rugged terrain for outdoor pursuits, a caving ‘buzz’ and climbing tower.
The site is frequented by scouts from across Rochdale, Middleton and Heywood as well as north and south Manchester.
