Danielle Evans raises over £800 for bone cancer research in memory of late aunt

Date published: 20 March 2017

Danielle Evans has raised over £800 towards bone cancer research by shaving her head on Friday (17 March), exactly one year to the day after her Auntie Ann lost a three-year fight with the disease aged 67.

Her friend, Jo Nixon, helped her ‘brave the shave’ by shaving Danielle’s hair in front of children, staff and families at Norden Community Primary School during their morning assembly.

Jo said: “I’m ultra-proud of Danielle. We’ve raised over £800 so far.

“The children were a little shocked as I bigged it up, asking them to clap throughout my cutting each long plait off. Then I started my clippers going and they all gasped. Danielle's son Finlay and my daughter Maddie were sat right at the front to watch. Danielle's husband Andrew, son Ciaran and daughter Joselyn watched from the sidelines.”

Danielle originally had a £500 target and her shaved hair will be donated to The Little Princess Trust, which makes real-hair wigs for alopecia and cancer patients.

The funds will be donated to The Bone Cancer Research Trust, which relies entirely on voluntary donations to fund research into the different forms of primary bone cancer.
