Virtual open event at Hopwood Hall for school leavers

Date published: 27 October 2020

Hopwood Hall College is giving school leavers the opportunity to explore its one-of-a-kind campus as it holds a Virtual Open Event for Year 11s and their parents.

The immersive online experience will include two interactive campus tours when it takes place on Wednesday 4 November between 4pm and 7pm.

It will allow Year 11s and their parents or guardians to digitally wander around the college’s sites in Rochdale and Middleton as they get their first real taste of student life ahead of September 2021.

The Middleton Campus is located within sprawling woodland and is often described as having a university vibe.

Due to its unique size it’s been able to implement social distancing measures with ease – providing a largely uninterrupted learner experience when other colleges have moved to online learning.

The Virtual Open Event will give pupils the chance to look around these grounds, as well as the college’s campus located in a highly desirable spot in the centre of Rochdale.

Just some of the sights that visitors will stumble across are trendy social areas and state-of-the-art equipment located in the 4,500sq-metre Technology Centre.

The virtual explorers will also come across the extraordinary creatures located at the on-site animal enclosure, including a gang of cheeky meerkats that are loved by students past and present.

It’s said that those who come for the meerkats stay for the courses though.

Hopwood offers school leavers a wide range of vocational courses and apprenticeships to choose from as they work towards their dream job or their first-choice university.

Amongst the study areas are fields such as engineering, media production, sport, performing arts, health and social care, and many more.

The Virtual Open Event promises to move Year 11s one step closer to securing their future as they browse the full range of courses and hear directly from the tutors who teach them in specially made videos.

Visitors will also be able to watch videos about all other aspects of college life, including student support, enrichment activities and a short film made by students.

Anyone left with questions will be able to have them answered immediately through a live chat function that will put them in touch with the people who’ll be teaching them.

Julia Heap, Principal and CEO of Hopwood Hall College, said: “We are incredibly proud of the student experience we provide at Hopwood Hall.

“The Virtual Open Event will provide a real glimpse into our college life – whether it’s hearing from our friendly staff or exploring our incredible campuses.

“We look forward to welcoming Year 11s and their parents to this special event and showing them just what the future can hold for them!”

Hopwood’s Virtual Open Event takes place on Wednesday 4 November from 4pm –7pm.
