Transline is currently advertising a number of HGV posts

Recruitment experts, Transline Group, has hosted an open day to retrain HGV drivers in Rochdale.

The day, which took place last month, gave drivers with an HGV 1 licence the opportunity to retrain on the firms LGV simulator system. Drivers could test their abilities in a variety of road and weather conditions and sharpen their skills.

The open day also presented candidates with employment opportunities in Shaw. The logistics company is currently looking to strengthen their elite team of HGV drivers with the opening of number of HGV driver vacancies.

The event is part of a national campaign to attract and retain drivers to address the ongoing skills shortage within the industry.

Transline is currently advertising a number of HGV posts and the open day saw previous Transline employees return for training, as well as introducing new candidates.

Chris Birkby, managing director of Transline commented: “The shortage of HGV drivers is an issue that reaches far beyond its own industry; our economy depends so heavily on transport and an increasing demand for rapid and efficient logistics that its shortcomings hit most industries in one way or another. Our focus is to invest in attracting new and existing drivers to help narrow the shortage across the industry.”
