James Steele and Jordan Dalton secure apprenticeships at Exigo

Date published: 29 April 2014

James Steele from Heywood and Jordan Dalton from Littleborough fought off some tough competition from over 50 applicants to secure apprenticeships at Exigo, a division of A & D Sports Ltd., established in 1995, with nearly two decades of experience in the manufacture and supplying of health and fitness equipment.

James and Jordan are now settling in as reliable hard working members of staff and studying towards a level 2 engineering framework and play a key role in the engineering of all aspects of gym equipment and accessories.

Jordan Dalton, 18, attended Wardle High School, he said: "Since starting four months ago, I can already weld and have a full understanding of the different tools and machinery.”

James Steel, 18, attended Siddal Moor High School, he said: “I always wanted to work in this industry after completing a similar course while at school. The opportunities this sector holds were promoted from family members with a long history of engineers.”

Exigo Director Angela Golden said: “The two new apprentices have been a breath of fresh air. They are reliable, hard working and polite at all times. Jordan and James attend Rochdale Training Skills Centre on a weekly basis, which has developed many skills for our business.

"Apprenticeships allow us to invest in local people and give them the skills needed for a long term career. This then helps us make an impact locally while, supply quality products nationally.”
