Zen staff cycle for Sport Relief

Employees at Rochdale-based Zen Internet cycled nearly 100 miles for Sport Relief 2012 on Friday (23 March).
A team of 23 employees kept the wheels of an exercise bike spinning for a grand total of five hours. Each employee cycled between 10 and 15 minutes to cover as much distance as possible, achieving an amazing 155 kilometres.
For those people not cycling there was the opportunity to take part in a sweepstake. The winner closest to the distance covered by the riders won the draw with £138 then donated to Sports Relief.
Other employees were also encouraged to come into work dressed in their favourite sportswear.
“The event was a great success. Cycling for Sport Relief was a great opportunity for everyone to get involved, whether they were taking part in activities or simply taking part in the sweepstake,” said Mark Bulmer, Zen’s Social and Charities Committee.
Zen is also committed to supporting charities in the area. Last Year Zen employees voted for Dr Kershaw’s as the company’s chosen charity and raised nearly £7,000 through its various fundraising activities. This year its charity is Boomerang, the multi sensory play centre based in Bury.
