PTG to sponsor City University London 2019 Compressor Conference

Date published: 01 August 2019

Precision Technologies Group (PTG) will again be sponsoring the International Conference on Compressors and their Systems organised by City, University of London. The 2019 conference takes place from 9 – 11 September.

Committed to the advancement of compressor technology, Milnrow-based PTG has sponsored the biennial conference ever since it was first held in 1999. The event provides a forum where developments in air, gas and refrigeration compressors, vacuum pumps, expanders, related systems and components are discussed.

2019 marks the twentieth anniversary of the very first ‘Compressor Conference’ and the September event will be the 11th in the series. Each conference is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading seminars on compressors and their systems, while City, University of London, is globally recognised for the Centre for Compressor Technology – a premier centre of excellence for compressor design and development.

The 2017 conference attracted more than 240 delegates from around the world and received some 132 technical papers for consideration.

Again taking place over three days, the 2019 event is expected to generate even higher levels of interest. Days one and two will be dedicated to the presentation of research and technical papers. Day three will be an industry day, whereby representatives from various sectors will have the opportunity to describe how their companies are responding to changes in technology or market demands.

Speaking of the immense importance he places on the conference, Dr Christopher Holmes, Research Manager at Precision Technologies Group said: “The International Conference on Compressors and their Systems, established by Professors Ian Smith and Nikola Stosic in 1997, has grown to be one of the most important events on the international compressor calendar.

“The event provides considerable exposure for organisations involved in the design, development and manufacture of positive displacement compressors, and allows their work to be subjected to academic scrutiny. The sheer number of outstanding papers submitted for acceptance confirms the importance of the conference globally.”

Conference Chair, Professor Ahmed Kovacevic added: “The 11th International Conference on Compressors and their Systems marks 20 years since its inception. Our Platinum Sponsor, Precision Technologies Group, has continually supported the conference over all those years.

“That has greatly helped City, University of London and our conference to become one of the world’s most important hubs for industry and academia in the area of compressor research and application.”
