Local building firm, H Bell received a welcome boost this week when it was revealed that their hard work and dedication to the care of patients at Springhill Hospice has been rewarded.

H Bell has been a part of Rochdale for over 100 years and made it their goal to support the local community in many ways.

Retired director, and head of the Bell household, Harry, gives much of his time and effort to support various charities, but it is their work for Springhill Hospice that has found them in the coveted position of finalists in this year’s North West Charity Awards.

H Bell and Sons, who were nominated by Springhill Hospice in recognition of their continued fundraising efforts, have been shortlisted as finalists in the category of ‘Outstanding Charity Support by small or medium sized company’. The firm will find out if they have been successful at the North West Charity of The Year awards dinner at The Principal Manchester on 12 October.

Julie Halliwell, Hospice Chief Executive said: “A corner stone of the local community, we are so very grateful of the steadfast support the team at H Bell give to the patients in our care.

“Over the years their support has grown from strength to strength. It was an honour to nominate the team and being chosen as a finalist at these awards is great recognition of their efforts. We really hope that in October, we’ll be celebrating them as award winners.”

Over the years the team at H Bells, now led by brother and sister, Chris Bell and Louise Scott, have raised money and awareness for the Hospice in many different ways. In his year as Man of Rochdale, dad Harry, organising a hugely successful evening with Professor Brian Cox at Rochdale Town Hall, raising over £100k.
