Zen supports Bury Hospice with 135 mile rickshaw challenge

Date published: 08 May 2018

A group of hardy staff from Zen Internet - including founder and CEO Richard Tang - will pedal a three-wheel rickshaw from Newcastle to the company’s Rochdale headquarters in May to raise money for Bury Hospice.

The 135 mile trek will stretch over three days, beginning at the officers of Technology Services Group (TSG) in Newcastle, one of Zen’s partner companies, on 9 May. The route will wind itself southwards along B roads and country lanes before ending at Zen’s Sandbrook Park home on 11 May.

Over 20 members of Zen’s team will take part in the challenge, taking it in turns to pedal in shifts and aiming to cover around 45 miles a day between them. Richard Tang will be kicking off the mammoth ride in Newcastle.

Karen Finnegan, Zen’s charity coordinator, said: “We’re fit and raring to go - or at least some of us are! This is a great challenge for the team and will really test our ability to work together and keep each other motivated. More than all that, we’re delighted to be doing it for such a very worthy cause.”

Bury Hospice is Zen’s chosen charity for 2018, selected by staff vote. The rickshaw challenge is one of a calendar of events designed to raise money for the charity, with other events, including The Gauntlet Games and a sponsored three peak hike, to come.
