Events in Rochdale - Sport

Rochdale Hornets take on Hemel Stags at Spotland Stadium, the first time two supporters owned Cooperative rugby league clubs play each other.

We are running a voucher scheme, which will get members of any Co-op entry into the game for £2 per person. We also want cooperatives, clubs and socities to come along on the day and pass out information, sell goods or just input and give the day that 'feel good' feel. The market place, with family entertainment including face painters and inflatables, opens at 12.00 with the main game kicking off at 3.00pm.

Lancashire Disabled Cricket was formed to enter the national disabled league in 1998 from members of the Rochdale disabled cricketers and other players from within the county, And dominated the league winning the national title 5 out of the first 6 years and totalling so far 7 champions and 1 runner up.

The club has been based at Middleton Cricket Club for the past 10 years and has practise on Saturday mornings 10-00am - 12-00pm.

We are always on the lookout for new players to join us and welcome players of all ability’s.

Our game at Middleton Cricket Club this season is against Derbyshire disabled on the 9 June starting at 1.00pm.

Established in 1977, Norden Carnival takes place every June and raises money for charity and good causes in Norden and Rochdale. The theme for Norden Carnival this year is 'My Favourite Story'.

The procession leaves Caldershaw School at 1pm and goes up Edenfield Road through the village to the Bus Terminus and then returns turning down Shawfield Lane to finish at Norden School.

At the school, there's always a selection of food and refreshments, fairground attractions, bouncy castles, craft stalls and other entertainment and activities until 4.30pm.
