Rochdale Light Orchestra Rehersal
The first gathering of orchestral players preparing to give a public concert of light music in late April or early May 2009. The programme will include music by Strauss, Sousa, Haydn Wood and Billy Mayerl. New members will be very welcome in all sections of the orchestra, and we would particularly like to have more string and brass players. The Local Tour
As part of an 11 date live tour of the UK this exciting collaboration between David Thomas Broughton, Sam Amidon and Doveman comes to Rochdale.
Each musician is extraordinary in his own right, from Broughton's wonderfully unique use of his acoustic guitar, to Doveman's acclaimed keyboard playing, which has made him such a sought after artist, working with such musical luminaries as Martha Wainwright and Anthony and the Johnsons, whilst Sam Amidon' s music has been described by Stylus magazine as "viscerally stunning, comforting, upsetting, entrancing."
But this promises not to be a showcase of three talented, but isolated artists, but rather a collaboration in the true sense of the word, where they will interweave their music to create something completely new and uplifting.
Tickets available from tourist information on 01706 924928.
